This is about unlocking your db2020 phone
DB2020 phones are k530 k550 k610 k770 k790 k800 k810 and w580 w610 w660 w710 w830 w850 w880 etc. You can find out if your phone is db2020 or not form the secret service menu.
To enter the secret service menu use this sequence of key strokes at phone standby screen -> * <- <- * <- *
Where -> is right arrow on keypad and <- is left arrow on keypad and * is the button below 7 and left of 0.
Then in Enter Service Info and then Software Info and then look out for EROM. If you see db2020 in the EROM name. Then your phone is a DB2020 phone and you can unlock it with this tutorial.
We will unlock the phone using a patch. The unlock patch will unlock your phone.
Simox has released a unlock patch generator which will generate one for your phone. Download Simox Unlock patch generator. Or download it from our mirror.
Download your phone’s Main firmware from Topse Or Topsony Or From 4shared folder . You can check out Main firmware name and version in the service menu. You can download your phone’s Main Firmware from here.
After you download the Main Firmware for your phone, Drag and drop the main firmware on simox unlock patch generator. It will now generate a unlock for your phone.
Apply the generated unlock VKP patch using SeTool 2 lite !! Bingo ! your phone is now unlocked !
Please follow This tutorial to learn how to apply patch, so that you can make use of the free unlock patch that you get from simox’s progmar ! The unlock patch is just like any other patch. You can follow the tutorial there to apply your unlock patch.

Also if you have a k550 then its recommenced to flash it to w610i and also unlock it

no i won’t erase any data because you are flashing only the Main , yes after unlocking you can use phone with any GSM operator. you should use w610i main and it works with w610 main

no there is no chance to kill phone. warning is provided just in case .. i mean if something goes wrong then you should not file a suit against use in court .. so we write that Terms of Agreement !!

That means you live in Central Europe.
You must use a CENT_EUROPE FS. But you can use any FS, because all FS have English language, CENT ERUOPE FS has only central European languages.
You must use FS which has language you want.
All FS have english language. Please see the k550 flashing tutorial for more info on this and a language list.
R1JD001 is your firmware version, other numbers and just number. don’t matter much.

i have k550i locked on orange (i’m in UK) My phone secret menu shows R6CA001. I’m not sure how i can unlock my phone. your tutorial here and on thinkdigit describes more abt flashing to w660i. but i just want to unlock k550i. I’m not able to find Main firmware for this.

download R6BC002 , put that firmware in phone. then unlock.. simple
method to up that firmware is same as flashing to w610. wht’s ur email id .. next time bttr specify it correctly

naa you can flash in the R6BC002 into your phone using XS++ as mentioned in tutorial
just follow the w610i flashing guide.. but use R6BC002 Firmware.. put that firmware into your phone and unlock it .. its because for your firmware there is no unlock patch.. also its not available easily .. you hv to buy R6CA001 from topsony.

i’ve a k800a, firmware R8BA024.list night a backup the gdfs file using setools read gdfs commend,then after restarting the phone i cant hear any sound from the phone’s speaker and also from the hands free.now all sound comes from the ear piece!!!..please help..
don’t worry .. download fs and main and custpack for k800 and do a full reflash of main and fs

Standby screen is shown when you have your phone on, but you are not in any menu, so you see background, clock, date and such things, it is like desktop in Windows, just without shortcuts. 😉
As far as I know unlocking is not necessary, but enabling VKP patching is: check your firmware version, -> * <- <- * <- *, service info, software info, and there the first line; if it is R6BC002 then no prob, if it isn’t then update it with Sony Ericsson Update Service. Then follow http://www.akshayy.com/sonyericsson/tutorials/applying-patches-for-db2020-phone/ and copy & paste the right patch in the tutorial for your firmware in an empty file, rename it to vkp extension, and write the script as the tutorial says with SeTool 2. Do it exactly as it says, because not doing it in a proper way ruins the main firmware…Be careful with it.
Oh and enable Quick-Access Patch as the tutorial says. 😉

Create the Quick Access Patch first, exactly as the tutorial says (patching tutorial) And than apply the patch also as it says, that way it should work.
Quick-Access Patch is necessary to bypass the phone’s security Quickly, it would take eternity…

hey alex there is a mismatch between main and patch .. create the patch for Main with will be flashed into phone after db2020 bypass ..
also i am pretty sure you are not Ticking Right option like Quick Access while patching
if you follow it correctly then you won’t have any problems
because this is how unlocking is done and many guys have unlocked their db2020 who followed the tutorial carefully 😉
try again carefully .. if you are busy then take out time on week end and follow carefully

I have read about a guy on a forum who flashed his phone with XS++ and did a few things then he flashed it with SEUS. And since then, he couldn’t open his phone with XS++ and other software, I guess because of SEUS, so it sure is a bad idea to use it after crossflashing and other stuff.
is there a way to unlock PNX5230 in a similar way to this unlock of db2020 ??

In that case we have to repair the EROM. And now here we will discuss the easiest way to fix it.
Using SeTool2 lite 1.11 we can fix this problem by this way.
1. Start SeTool 2 lite
2. Press Unlock\Repair Button, The first button.
3. Reinsert Battery
4. Connect phone holding 2+5
5. Wait, SeTool 2 lite will repair the EROM, it will flash it back.
6. Done
Now you can start your phone.

I did the procedure you have mentioned for unlocking my T-Mobile network locked phone. Actually i did software upgrade for the previous unlocked phone, hence got locked. I didn’t get any error messages in the whole process of appling the unlock patch. But finally my phone when switched on gives a white screen blinking on regular intervals. I restored the GDFS using XS++ . But no use… same condition…. Any idea what might be the problem… Please let me know your views…

phone permanently might die.. it happens 1 out of 100 times ..
so if something does go wrong what will i need to do to fix it
I can’t find my main firmware anywhere, it’s R8AE001
if something goes wrong then in most cases can be fixed by full reflash or some other dangerous stuff
but some cases its gone for good .. in which case you get it replaced for free 😉

can u help me please,ive tryed to de-brand and unlock my w850i,i had a few problems but have now got the phone working slightly. my main problem now is the phone keeps rebooting itself every 10-20 secs even if i turn the phone off? also it wont detect any networks

The erom version doesn’t matter. Download the Main firmware your phone has installed on it. Download SIMOX patch generator, and SeTool 2 Lite with qmaker. Create and apply the Quick-Access Patch. Then generate and apply the SIMunlock patch also.

r3a022, what you mentioned is your erom version. In software info, check the FIRST line, that is the firmware number.
da 1st lyn is R6CA001…….. bt i cnt find it in da linkz uv provided. n also wer cud i download da SeTool 2 frm. iv gt da Simox jus need da firmware n da SeTool 2. thnx agen
Then download a newer firmware, both main and fs and custpack also. Backup your contacts and files in phone memory, and then flash the newer firmware.

yesssssssss ive just fixed it,the fault was my gdfs file was all knackered so i went about flashing a gdfs file of my wifes phone and patching it and its all fixed, happy days. huge weight off my shoulders…
and before anyone says it cant be done,well i can 100% say yes it can thanks to some help of a very friendly guy off another forum who has cracked sonys gdfs files and now can be repaired via your usb cable and setools.

Hi, I have a W660i on 3UK, firmware is R6BC002, I tried to unlock following your tutuorial and all seemed OK but when tried to turn phone on the screen was lit but nothing came up. I have tried the unlock/repair tool in SEtool 2 lite and phone was the same. I then tried to restore GDFS using XS++ but phone still doesnt work. Please can you help???
Reflash main. It will be locked again, but at least working. While you were patching, did SeTool2 say that values differ?

Am having k810i R6BC002 EROM: R3A022 Europe_4 with the simlock engaged and FS branded. Have been through all the info avaiable and the resources in here, have gotten all the files i seem to be in need for and seem to have pretty clear understanding of the process (plus, have played around with XS++). YET, before i get to the job of flashing have one last question:
As stated before, my FW is R6BC002, yet i cannot find a set of all three elements i need with that version of firmware. One i have is R1KG001 – both the MAIN and FS. So “Is it fully compatible and capable of being flashed?”

@Fresh: Sucked in… CID 53 is not supported by XS++/FAR Manager/SeTool2. All you can do with it is browsing FS with the newest JDFlasher. You will have to wait, because den_po and the others are working on it… hopefully. 😀
@stereotips: It should be capabe, but why would you flash an old firmware… Try these:

i just got a K800i locked to vodafone in UK.
I’m not sure what firmware i need to use. I can’t see any mention of CID anything in the software info screen.
The first few lines of the info:

I did find some firmware which may work on the Top Sony forum (K800_R8BF003_FS_VFE_LIVE_2_RED52 ), but I can’t download it off them due to the register cap.

okay, so i used the K790_R8BF003_MAIN_GENERIC_EV_RED52 firmware from Topse Russia, did all the stuff the tutorial said, and it seemed to go well.
but now, when i turn it on, the screen just flashes on and off, and doesn’t go any further.
Did I choose the wrong firmware, or did i do something else wrong? (when i generated the patch in SimLockPatch, i put the name of my phone instead of the name in the firmware.. should i have?)

oh, i’ve just realised what i probably did wrong: on the “apply quick access patch” bit of the patching tutorial, i put the unlock patch instead of whatever i was supposed to do.
Good news is setool still recognises my phone, so I don’t think all is lost, though I’m not sure how to fix it.

Hi, i think i am on my last stage of unlocking my k550i. When i apply the “quick access patch”, the programme gives an error when “trying to launch embedded bootloader” (during which my phone switches on and goes into a file transfer mode), which is “embedded flashloader not responds!”.

sorry CID53 you can’t apply patches and no unlocking
but CID53 flashing and custmoization can be done with latest JD flasher. i will soon come up with tht tutorial also
You should try to connect it to XS++, it isn’t totally obvious that it is CID 53.

What is meant by “-> is right arrow on keypad and <- is left arrow on keypad”? I have a k800i and there are no arrows. If I attempt to use the joystick as you suggested I only come onto other menus. Do you have an alternative? Many thanks!
you can use the joysticks.. not problems… it works on my friends k790.

You used a fw to flash it to w610. You can use that to generate Quick-Access Patch and SIMunlock, too.

Patching with a different phone’s patch is not a good idea, especially when the content is in connection with startup.

Then backup the contacts you have and flash FS, too:

In your case, only main flashing is necessary, but that main won’t be compatible totally with the vodafone life bullsh*t, so you’d better flash everything.

Yes K310 is DB2010 all right, follow that other tutorial, it will work if it is CID49.
is there any difference between k310 and k310i? or is it safe for me to use the tutorial for k310? i have a k310i?
SE puts that “i” in most of its name but in flashing we usually ommit them, we just call a K550i a K550… So it should be safe. It is also safe to crossflash a K550i to a K550im…

I had major issues with my SE K790i i.e., random corrupted charecters on the screen and the firmware was completely corrupted…I’m new to modding SE phones but eventhough it looked rocket science in the beggining, was pretty damn easy as things started to roll. I was able to reinstall the firmware using XS++ and firmware patch from the links you’ve provided. I initially failed with this procedure but was successful when I selected the APAC region under customization prior to flashing.

i don’t know now what’s the problem with your phone.
get a new sim card and try SMS.
If phone is only not working then you will need to REFLASH the MAIN and FS and CDA, Using XS++ . You can find that tutorial in our tutorials section.
ALSO ALEX if you reflash/reinstall main firmware you will again need to do this unlocking procedure.

Read the Applying Patches tutorial a couple of times. What is what you don’t understand??

i tried to search google for a patch, and i got one but it still didnt work, as my phone is still locked after applying that one.

V640 is DB3150, no patching yet. You can’t unlock it for free.
just finished following the above instruction with mixed results everything appears to complete i can debrand the phone but after applying the unlock patch the phone is bricked any tips its a k800i locked on three also unlock patch not executable using xs++ any help would be great thanks m
debranding is done by reflashing with XS++
unlocking is done by applying patch using Jdflasher or SeTool 2 lite correctly with all steps correctly followed. 😉
after applying unlock patch only flash is supported does the “c” button need to be pressed during the whole process

you are suppose to hold C until phone is connected. then you are supppose to leave it.
try to Use XS++ to fix it now by reflashing the main.
see if its red light is blinking or something like that.
have managed to reflash main using xx++ but phone still bricked and xs++ can no longer open port so have tried using setool and it cant load id loader theres no blinking lights and phone not showing up in “My Computer” really puzzled 🙂

not sure what to make of this but after last flashing failed have left phone alone for about 90mins and its turned itself on and now showing insert correct simcard

LOCKED phones with InCorrect SIM and FIMRWaRE say INSERT SIM CARD.
do it dos not matter SIM can be removed or left in place.

back again iv reflashed phone using K800_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_WI_RED52 i created and applied the quick access patch using this then created an unlock patch using the SIMOX tool and flashed this first time it failed with the $47 blah error so i flashed with patch again but chose to remove rather than apply patch which worked so reflashed again with the unlock patch this time installing the patch and hey presto its unlocked what can i say my many thanks and eternal gratitude are yours my only gripe is its orange branded how can i get it to just an generic state with no logos and stuff and will further flashing kill the unlock patch

DAVID. Use CENT_EUROPE CDA. In the CDA download file it will be mentioned along with number >> CENT_EUROPE.
For UK you can use any FS and any CDA because you use ENGLISH. ENGLISH is default in all combinations.
Martin… that’s nice.
To DEBRAND Flash ONLY FS+CDA.
Don’t FLASH MAIN. Else phone will be again locked.
Use XS++ to flash FS+CDA.
So you should check only options flash FS and CDA.
Phone will then get debranded

It’s different EROM security. It is currently impossible to patch cid53 phones for free and only JDFlasher supports them (of free apps). That’s all.

You can’t unlock it for free. W200 is DB2012, I don’t know why XS++ says it’s 2010. But DB2010/2012 CID 52 patching is not possible at the moments, so you can’t unlock it with a patch. You’ll have to pay for unlocking.

I launch setool but everytime i try to identify my SE phones, it just loading and i’ve waited for more than 5 minutes but still nothing. Do i need to install any driver or something i missed out. @Nickson: You can add a new custpack and do a master reset, but it is better to reflash fs and then upload a new custpack.
@charlotte: Yes, that is the code unlocking and this is the patch unlocking. But those codes are not free, you always have to pay for them.
im sure this is a stupid question, but when we are downloading the two applications to unlock our phones should we be downloading them to our computer or directly to our cells?

mean while to unlock the phone, if its CID52 just follow this tutorial and later you can use any SIM card.
If its a brand new phone with CID53 protection it can’t be unlocked.

I have rogers wireless phone here in Canada, a K790. I took it to the United Kingdom last week and gave it for unlocking to some retail store. They connected my phone using a USB cable to their computer and used some kinda software to unlock it. Once it was unlocked, my phone kept showing “no network coverage” with any or the sim cards (even my rogers). Note: I had full coverage using my rogers before It was unlocked. I asked the guys to have a look at it again and they said that there is nothing they can do about it. I took the phone back home with me and was trying to get it to work when suddenly it just switched off and died. I havent been able to switch it on again ever since. I have tried recharging it but I dont thnk the battery has anything to to with it. Note: even when I connect it to the power…there is no response what so ever. Please advise me on how I can get my phone working again by myself.

When the phone dies, it won’t charge any more.
Now try reinserting the battery and connecting to Setool2Lite or XS++. (after installing usb drivers).
If you can, you should be able to reflash main & fs and that way fix it. If not, you can still try fixing the EROM, but with less hope.
It looks like you killed its GDFS with that flashing. Is it now with W580 firmware?

I believe that it is not just because of faulty keypad but a firmware error. the power button was acting weird also. It key-locks the phone when pressed. I don’t think so. It is probably stored in the GDFS, so it should be possible by modding it. But it’s not a wise idea to play with that…
@Superzeg: think about it, when you press 3 after power button, it keylocks the phone, that is the third option of that menu. This means your 3 button is stuck in, either it can’t come up because it’s under the front panel (try to rescue it), or some liquid got under it and it’s closing the circuit. Now if it won’t get better in a few days and you can’t fixit just by forcing the button left or right, you’ll have to dismantle the phone, and let it dry then or reinsert keypad. It should work, if not, your keyboard circuit is gone, you’ll need to buy a new panel.

1st video to enable patching, 2nd to apply the unlocker patch. Use qmaker to enable patching and simox to unlock.

Have a CID52 k800i with f/w R1KG001 that I wish to unlock. I have downloaded the f/w from Topsony and tried applying it to Simox’s Sim-Lock Gen. The Gen asks for .mbn or .bin files but the f/w I got from Topsony is a .fbn file. Any ideas?
You have to download R1KG001 MAIN to generate patch from.

You can’t listen to radio. The app starts, but can’t find stations.
For Z710, you better crossflash to W710, look for w710 patches at mobilefree.ru, see the most common version and flash to that FW. 😉

Downloaded setools onto my brothers pc and got the same message when dragging and dropping of the main firmware onto qamaker.
i just doesn’t seem to want to work for me.
Is there something I’m doing wrong?
I download the firmware and unzip it. Then I drag the unzipped file over qamaker and I assume it will write the .vkp. This being the case, I’m stumped!
Is there another way I can unlock this? It’s a K770i, R8AB001. Can I use another firmware for which there is a QA patch already written in the setools archive? eg. R8AA018

I have downloaded ‘Far Manager’ which now has ‘JDFlasher’ now residing in Plugins directory of ‘Far’.
Re finding out whether or not my phone is db2020 from the secret service menu.
As my ‘3’ sim is now inactivated (ie contract sim now no good) as have t-mobile, all i get when switching on the phone is “insert USIM or to view demo of this videophone first, press demo” [if no SIM inserted.
If i insert my T-Mobile SIM, then i simply get message: “insert correct USIM” ie as still locked to 3.
So, my frst question is, how can i get to the phone standby screen? Or will i need a ‘3’ SIM?

I have a locked w880i it is CID52 and it is db2020 phone. I made a backup for GDFS and then i flashed : W880_R1KG001_MAIN_GENERIC_RED52.mbn and W880_R1KG001_FS_EUROPE_2_RED52.fbn. After that i used SIMLockPatchGen to generate from MAIN the .vpk patch. Using setool2lt i tried to write the script but it doesn’t work. It gives me an error, something like “…reading error…”.
What can I do to unlock my phone? I tried every thing (i even flashed R8BA024 versions and i have the same error) and I searched all over the web. Do I need some kind of special USB cable? I’m doing something wrong?

When I write the *.vkp script for unlocking if I check the “Use quick access patch” when I plugin the phone, the phone starts itself and SEtool2 gives me the message : “Trying to launch embedded bootloader… embedded flashloader not responds !”. If I uncheck the “Use quick access patch” and write the script, i get the question with “press NO to apply the patch”, and when i press NO it gives me the error : “Blocks selected OK. Reading blocks: 1 Block @$44740000 read error. Have only: 00000000 bytes”. What can I do??? Please help!

I have a k550i that has 5 locks on it, how do i remove a counter block, I had purchased an unlock patch for my phone thinking it was a CID 51 but after using XS++ it shows CID 51 and IEMI 53 I did not know I should be looking at the IMEI NO not the CID NO.
Impatience on my part as it is locked to virgin and I wanted it unlocked for 02 after trying several times I read in the sony forum that after 3 attempts it counter blocks the phone and I need to have it unblocked before buying an unlock for IMEI 53

After doing the Sony updates first, I purchased an unlock patch for my Sony Ericsson K550i phone as it is locked to virgin and I want to be on 02, I was told I needed firmware R1JD001 MAIN GENERIC so I downloaded it, but after using XS++ it shows CID 51 and EROM 53 and a different firmware no, the patch is for 49,50,51 and of course it didn’t work, this is what I got from the XS++

I solved my problem… the thing was that I didn’t have a “quick access patch” or something related… so I searched the net for a script to enable this “quick access patch” function (script that was generated with QAMAKER from MAIN file; I tried to generate it myself but couldn’t so I downloaded the *.vkp file from somewere; just google it). I wrote the script and then the unlocking went smooth.

I bought a k800i locked to vodafone UK and tried unlocking but SEtool and XS++ weren’t detecting my phone so i got it unlocked from gaffar market in delhi.
My problem is: 1) The camera quality in dim light is horrible.. there is too much noise as if a night mode has switched on. I compared it with my friends k790i and his phone had great images in same light without noise. what do i do? is the phone defective or is this a software problem?

The worst thing is that i forgot to back up the GDFS. How to back up GDFS using FAR anyway? How long is the unlocking process for a K550 usin windows XP supposed to take, as it is, my setools has been runnin for just over an hour n no progress. Plus at some point the phone was accidently disconnected from the USB (for about 20secs) , willl that affect anything?

I tried XS++ with W200 and it didnt work, but with P1 it works.
Yes the pc and cable DCU65 detecting my w200 coz after Xs++ said error and disconnect, the cable like auto detect W200 and opens the menu & memory card.
I will try another usb outlet.
and if it doesnt work again, i will let u know.

Anderson, your phone is CID52, it can easily unlocked if you follow the procedure correctly. After unlocking try using some other sim card.

Recently i found a w910i and handed it to a police station, but no1 came for it so it became mine. Ashish, codes are not free. Use AnyCID method, use Simlock patch generator and unlock. its easy, jsut read all tutorials and you are done.

How to apply the generated patches to DB2020 CID52 phones:
IMPORTANT: First you need to backup the GDFS. If something goes wrong you can unbrick you phone with this backup. Here is how to do:
Open SETool2 Lite v1.11.
1. Select your phone model.
2. Click on Read GDFS button.
3. Follow the instructions given by SETool2 Lite.
4. You will get a gdfs_yourIMEI.bin file in SETool2 Lite folder. Put it to a safe place.
I. We will apply the quick access patch to phone. It is needed to be able to use the quick access method in future. Due to this great patch you can easily apply the further patches, just like to DB2010 CID 49 phones.
!!!YOU NEED TO DO THIS ONLY ONCE!!!
Open SETool2 Lite v1.11.
1. Select your phone model.
2. In Windows Explorer drag the MAIN file (.mbn) onto SETool2 Lite v1.11 folder\qamaker\qamaker.exe. In the qamaker’s folder you will get a quick_access_XXXX_XXXXXXX.vkp file.
3. Click on … (three dots) button near MISC files box, and select the vkp file generated in step 2.
4. Tick Bypass DB2020 security checkbox.
5. Click on Add button and select the MAIN firmware file.
6. Press FLASH button.
7. Follow the instructions given by SETool2 Lite. At one moment you will belive that nothing happens and the status windows is not changing! DO NOT remove the CABLE! Wait until “ELAPSED x SECONDS” appears in status window.
This process will take some time, about 10-15 minutes or more…
II. Now we need to generate an unlock patch.
Run SIMLockPatchGen.exe, select that MAIN firmware (used earlier) by clicking on … (three dots) button, then press the Make patch button. In status window you will get the path to the generated vkp file(e.g. “D:\…\SIMLockPatchGen\vkp\Remove_SIM_lock_XX X_XX XXXXX.vkp” patch file created.) Close the SIMLockPatchGen.
III. We will apply the generated unlock patch to unlock the phone.
In SETool2 Lite v1.11:
1. Click on Clear button.
2. Select your phone model.
3. Tick Use “quick access” patch checkbox
4. Click on … (three dots) button near MISC files box, and select the vkp file generated by SIMLockPatchGen.
5. Click Write SCRIPT button
6. Follow the instructions in left status window…
7. READ THIS CAREFULLY, it is a little tricky: Click “Yes” to remove the patch. Click “No” to add the patch. In this case click on “No” button.
Wait until “ELAPSED x SECONDS” appears in status window, and done. Your phone is unlocked.

there was used to be way for downgrading erom using omnius but its not free since 2 3 weeks!!!

I am new to all this things, once I succeded to flash and unlock K770i, soo I took now friends k550i to unlock it and usin instructiones from this forum I flashed it to w610 but I did not unlock it, now I have soo many problems that I dont know where to start….
1) I did all that needed with files and jdflasher but executor will not start, I am always gettin message “operation failed”
2) When I try to do FS flash I am gettin message “…………………..dcu_writedata time exceed”
3) When I try to unlock it from SeTools lite I have message “Trying to launch embedded bootloader…embedded flashloader not responds !”
etc etc….

Hi there, I’ve managed to update my k550i to w610 but am having trouble unlocking it. The model says W610 but says “Warning: IMEI name does not match GDFS name (IMEI:K550 GDFS:W610)…using IMEI name. The sim also says inccorrect sim card. Tried using Setool any help would be much appreciated =)
Just solved the problem : anti-virus was blocking the program on setool 1.10 lite instead of running 1.11 =). Disabled AVG, re-flashed, hey presto!
